At the first day of San Diego Comic-Con, Actor and Director Ben Affleck confirmed he will be starring, directing, and co-writing a standalone Batman movie after Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice premieres and after he completes his directorial greenlighted projected, Live By Night.
According to IGN, Affleck is working to finish a script with DC’s Chief Creative Officer and Executive Producer of Batman v Superman, Geoff Johns by the end of the American summer.
The Warner Bros. Picture will pin Batman after the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Deadline states that Affleck will also be working on adapting the New York Times Best Seller Dennis Lehane’s crime novel, Live By Night to film.
Based on IMDb, the gritty crime drama will be directed and star Ben Affleck as Joe Coughlin, Zoe Saldana as Graciella Suarez, Sienna Miller as Emma Gould, and Elle Fanning as Loretta Figgis.
This story will set around the time of Prohibition when organized crime was stagnant, Bugsy Siegel ran the casinos and Al Capone controlled the city streets.
Live By Night has the potential to be a masterpiece as Affleck’s prior directing with Argo led him to win an Oscar for Best Picture in 2013. Affleck is known for his heart-pounding and intense take on the world with such films as The Town (2010) and Gone Baby Gone (2007).
Whatever success next summer’s most anticipated superhero face-off blockbuster garnishes, Affleck may be the right guy for keeping the Dark Knight to brew in the shadows under the night sky within the depths of Gotham. What do you think, will Affleck do the cape crusader justice?
