Hello, readers. It has been way too long since I have written or posted anything on this blog. The blog was beginning to wither away like a lost ship out in the middle of space or the virtual internet sphere. And I was considering deleting this blog. But I decided to keep it alive with this new post, years later. A post that yes, promotes my new novel that has been out since April 3, 2026. A book that I have worked on and off for over 20 years.
This new book of mine which has released 11 years after my debut novella, Stay Awhile, is an epic fantasy and sci-fi tale that is beyond the scope of anything I have ever created before. Not only is this book long with a total of 538 pages, but it is the first part in a long series. A series that I plan to make six books with. A book series that I hope will be my magnum opus, where years of my writing craft reach its peak.

The book title is Axel’s Legacy: A Fugitive’s Quest. Axel’s Legacy is the name of the series. The story follows an amnesiac prisoner who wakes up to a world caught between political and cultural conflict. He sees visions of the future, one being that he and a group of strangers traverse the vast landscapes and topography of the inhabited planet of Luxia to the Promised Land, a magical place, only a bold few would dare venture. You can read the full synopsis on the back cover here.

Synopsis: On the distant planet of Luxia, in the city of Chevix, an unlikely group of people are brought together by fate. Axel Handler wakes up in a prison cell without any memory of himself or his life. Princess Eva is set to choose her husband while her caretaker, Sidney Irvine, gets her ready. Prince Sebastian of Lexington prepares to win the princess’s heart. A soldier of the castle, Ramsey Strider, guards King Portiere on his daughter’s wedding night. Meanwhile, Jinx Taylor, a young and emboldened leader from the slums, plans an assault on the castle due to the oppression and negligence of the king. Axel and Eva simultaneously have visions of traveling to the Promised Land, a place that provides knowledge about the universe as well as their pasts, presents, and futures. After the events of a catastrophic battle, these survivors come together with different motives to journey to the Promised Land and begin their epic quest.
A few readers have already said that the book would be worthy of getting a film or TV series adaptation. Though that is exciting to hear, you want to ensure that whoever adapts a work of art does so with the utmost care. And regardless of how well received it becomes, the look of the world will never fully be replicated from my imagination, only in books. A world full of vibrant colors that can only be compared to impressionistic paintings.
Last summer, during a friend’s Bachelor party weekend, I got a tarot card reading of this book, for fun. The tarot read that this book would have a slow start with sales, but overtime would exponentially grow in exposure and popularity as I continue to grow a community. Whether you believe in that or not, makes for a fun fact.
The book is listed on Amazon as an eBook, paperback, and hardcover. The paperback has the perfect matte finish while the hardcover has an appropriate glossy finish. Listing price for each is: eBook $9.99 or free with an Amazon Unlimited subscription, paperback $19.99, and hardcover $29.99. The book currently has 1 review of 5 stars at the time I made this post. I posted the review below. More reviews are highly recommended to gain exposure from the impossible Amazon algorithm. Every website has an algorithm. Don’t get me started with YouTube. I might even self-publish my book on Barnes & Nobles Press someday where I would be able to get a dust jacket hardcover copy.

Some other goals of mine in promoting and marketing my book would be to do an author signing. I been in contact with some bartenders who work at a local bar/bookstore hybrid and who might be able to give me the opportunity to conduct a book signing. I also plan to promote my book at an art festival in the beginning of fall. Using social media is always a marketing strategy, but does it really work? I’ve posted on TikTok with #BookTok since it’s release, as well as on Instagram, my author page on Facebook, and recorded a live reading of Chapter 1 on my YouTube channel. I’ve printed double business cards and been trying to figure out how to create an email list. I even submitted my book to the UK’s 2026 Amazon Storyteller Award contest. If I win, I earn 20,000 pounds. Back in 2015, Stay Awhile won a performance transcript reading of Chapter 6 from a Canadian voice actor during the WILDsound Writing Festival.

Besides gloating about my success, I need to give credit to the people that have helped make this happen. First to my editor and formatter, Bodie D. Dykstra, my book cover and book spine designer Inorai, and to my map creator, Alex McKinley, who created a map of one of the continents in the world of Luxia. A continent that becomes the main setting of where our characters travel. Both the book designer and map designer I met on Fiverr.com and will continue to work again on future projects. My editor was a referral from a close author friend of mine, Keith Basedow, who got his book edited by the same person. If you want to read some fantastic medieval fantasy and psychological horror, check his books out on Amazon. He’s a talented up-and-coming author: amazon.com/Keith-Basedow/author. He self-published Remnant in 2024 and Affliction in 2025.

If you’re into well-developed diverse characters, imaginative world-building, and epic action/adventure, you should check out Axel’s Legacy: A Fugitive’s Quest. I wrote this book because I want people to regain their humanity. We have lost so much of our humanity over the recent years and have fallen into a land of confusion. It’s important to stop and remind ourselves what makes us human, to have empathy, and feel emotions. To make an ugly world a little better each day.

I have rebranded myself with the pen name, A.F. Vecchio. Consider purchasing either format of the book (eBook, paperback, or hardcover), take your time reading it, analyze the map, and leave a review. Thank you for all your continued support. I may continue posting again on this blog. May you find enlightenment on your life journey and happy reading!
